About Andrew Howard Holmes

Andrew (Andy) was born in Pocatello, Idaho on August 1, 1990 to Forest and Dana Holmes. He attended Ellis Elementary in Chubbuck until moving to Boise, Idaho in 1998. He attended Lowell Scott Middle School and graduated from Centennial High School in 2008.

The true Andy Holmes is young man that took every breath of life as a new experience in the world. He is dedicated to his family and friends and would do anything in the world for anyone, and in return would ask nothing. His smile is captivating, and everyone is drawn to him and his charms. His family always teases him about becoming a politician. While attending high school, Andy worked at a local coffee shop and loved talking with all of the patrons. Andy is the type of young man who would talk to anyone. He loves many things but his favorites are golfing with family and friends, and fishing with his brothers and sister, even though his sister frequently out fishes him. Andy was recognized by the Mayor of Meridian for Recovery Awareness Day for his dedication and service to young teens with addiction problems.

Andy wanted to serve his country in a branch of the US military and after looking at the various branches, and what each had to offer, he decided to enlist in the US Army the day after his 18th birthday.
Andy attended Army basic training and Airborne training in Fort Benning Georgia. He successfully earned his jump wings at Fort Benning and was later assigned to Fort Lewis. Upon arriving at Fort Lewis, Andy was reassigned to a Stryker Battalion. Andy’s assignment has been with the 5-2 SBCT 2-1 Infantry since early in 2009. He deployed to Afghanistan with the 5-2 in July of 2009.

Andy returned to Boise in April of 2010 for a two week leave. He returned to Afghanistan after completing his leave. During his time in Afghanistan, Andy frequently shared his experiences with this family and friends.

Andy is planning to attend college after his service to his county is complete. He ultimately would like to be a golf course manager. He turned 20 years old on August 1, 2010.
